The Simplicity of Tea Rituals

tea, cup, rest

Turn the simple act of making a cup of tea into a moving meditation with this tea ritual! You can do this daily, at any time of the day however we do recommend the morning to start the day off feeling grounded or the evening to complete your day feeling peaceful and relaxed!

You will need:

  • A selection of our loose-leaf Teas
  • A teacup
  • A kettle
  • A teapot (or tea infuser)
  • Clock (optional – to time the steeping)

Set up your ritual space by arranging the teas, teacup and teapot in a quiet place where you can sit comfortably.

Remove all distractions, and try to keep your focus on each action. If your mind wanders gently bring it back to the current task.

Fill the kettle and bring it to boil.

Sit at your ritual space and ground yourself, taking a few deep breaths. Turn your awareness inwards and listen to your body to see what it needs. Allow this to guide your tea choice. Each of our teas has its own properties and effects and will support you in different ways.

Look at your tea selection and choose any blend which you feel most drawn to. Use about 1 teaspoon of the blend per cup. As you do this more often, you will get to know how each makes you feel and how the flavors interact together.

Put your blend into a teapot or infuser and add boiling water. Allow it to steep for around 5 minutes (check the recommendations on the package). You can take this time to meditate on an intention which you may set for your day, or use the infusing tea as a focal point for visual or scent meditation.

Once your tea has infused, pour it in a teacup and maintain focus on it. Inhale its scent deeply and then start sipping on it slowly, observing the taste on your palate. Visualise the tea’s warmth and healing energy radiating throughout your body.

Finish off the ritual by giving thanks, clearing up and putting everything back in place.

Get your hands on our loose leaf Teas and try this out for yourself!
